About Scouting
In Cub Scouting you’ll have lots of fun, adventure, and activities with your den and pack. But there’s more to it than that. Being a Cub Scout means you are a member of a worldwide youth movement that stands for certain values and beliefs. Cub Scouting is more than something to do. It’s all about the person you are and the person you will become.
Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America has helped younger boys and now girls too through Cub Scouting. It is a year-round family program designed for boys and girls who are in Kindergarten through fifth grade (or 5-10 years of age). Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting. Currently, Cub Scouting is the largest of the BSA’s three membership divisions. (The others are Boy Scouting and Venturing.)
The ten purposes of Cub Scouting are:
Character Development | Spiritual Growth | Good Citizenship |
Sportsmanship and Fitness | Family Understanding | Respectful Relationships |
Personal Achievement | Friendly Service | Fun and Adventure |
Preparation for Scouts BSA |
About Pack 56
Pack 56 is sponsored by St. John’s Episcopal Church in Holbrook, Mass. Our Pack meetings are regularly held on the last Sunday of each month at St. John’s at 4pm. Since 1959, Pack 56 has helped hundreds of young men by instilling in them the values of the Cub Scout program – Citizenship, Compassion, Cooperation, Courage, Faith, Health and Fitness, Honesty, Perseverance, Positive Attitude, Resourcefulness, Respect, and Responsibility.
Den meetings are held twice per month, where the Scouts work on advancements and other activities. All dens attend the Pack meeting as a group, where achievement awards are presented to the individual Scouts.
Lion meetings are held every 2nd Friday of the month from 7pm–8pm at Saint John’s. Tiger meetings are held every 2nd & 4th Friday of the month from 7pm–8pm at Saint John’s. Pack Leadership
The dedication and commitment of our Pack Committee, Cubmaster, and Den Leaders enables us to have an outstanding program to offer. They spend hours planning for den meetings, pack meetings, camping, and special events. It is this leadership that enables our Pack to offer our Scouts and opportunity to grow and advance.
